Working: Remotely, but must be able to work Hawaii and/or PST time.

Job Descriptions: We are looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer to play a principal role on a team of brilliant engineers as we expand and improve our ever-growing suite of financial offerings. You will use latest platforms and tools, such as Terraform, GCP (GKE, Secret Manager, IAM, Service Accounts, DNS, NAT, VPC Peering, Cloud Armor, Firewall, Logging, Monitoring), Kubernetes (Workload Identity, RBAC, KSA, Namespaces), and work inside a complex financial infrastructure spanning both on-prem and cloud, with an Akamai CDN, BIG-IP load balancers, and VM Series firewalls.

Primary Responsibilities

Lead our efforts towards the goal of fully automated environment creation.

Take ownership of major parts of our infrastructure. Manage your own priorities based on departmental and organizational guidance.

Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and security stakeholders across the organization.

Strong communication and leadership skills.

Design, implement, and document comprehensive IaC. This includes creating a framework of scripts, libraries, tools, and configuration templates; tracking and attributing progress with Jira and git; and following Dev/Test/Prod for your code.

Development and scripting experience with languages like Python, Ruby, Java, Go, and bash.

Systematic diagnosing, debugging, and problem solving. Quickly learn and research new technologies and adopt new tools, new services, new libraries, and new language features.

Document resource creation and stages of CI/CD, for our Full Stack engineers to independently manage these. Document infrastructure for internal use and for compliance audits.

Experience with configuration orchestration tools like Terraform and CloudFormation, configuration management tools such as Ansible and Puppet, and key management, like Vault, KMS, and HSM.

Understanding of core infrastructure concepts like load balancing, SSL termination, auto-scaling, CDN, DNS, REST, caching, Internet protocols, OSI layers, threads, and file descriptors.

Understanding of core security concepts, like L4 and L7 firewalls, VPN/IPSec, encryption at rest and in flight, password and certificate management, and system hardening. General knowledge of IDS/IPS and security best practices.

Experience with monitoring tools, like New Relic, Dynatrace, Prometheus, AWS CloudWatch, GCP Cloud Monitoring, and log aggregation and visualization tools, like the ELK stack, AWS CloudTrail, and GCP Cloud Logging.

Set up systems that make good use of technology utilized throughout the company.

Required Qualifications

5+ combined years of DevOps and software engineering.

AWS or GCP

Self-sufficiency.

Knowledge of some scripting languages and ability to create frameworks.

Knowledge of some configuration orchestration and configuration management tools.

Nice to Have:

Knowledge of more advanced security concepts: protocol handshakes, port scanning, http content signatures, and tcpdump.

Understanding of Agile concepts

Some SQL

Experience in large enterprise companies

Experience in startup companies

Independent projects

Knowledge of object-oriented architecture.

Bachelor degree in Computer Science
