Job Summary:

The Senior Network Engineer role is to ensure the stability and integrity of Independence Blue Cross’s network infrastructure and services. Assists with planning, designing, and developing local area network (LAN), metro area network (MAN), and wide area network (WAN) across the organization. Participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will analyze and resolve network hardware and software complex problems in a timely and accurate fashion utilizing advanced troubleshooting methods, techniques, and tools, apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve systems issues.

Areas of responsibility will include:

• Managing LAN/MAN/WAN, Firewall (VPN), Load Balancing Technology, Wireless Networking, Cloud Networking, document and maintain advanced troubleshooting techniques and capacity planning methods on systems (e.g., diagrams, technical specifications, operating manuals.).

• Providing research and recommendation for continuous process improvement including evaluate vendor proposals review in line with procurement policies and procedures.

• Working on projects/systems/issues of medium to large complexity project as a project team member.

• Performing the duties of the Sr. Network Engineer as required.

Qualifications - External

Qualifications:

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, or equivalent.

• 7+ years of Data Network experience preferred

• In-depth knowledge of Cisco Switching and Routing, F5 LTM/ASM, network Security, network management systems

• CCNA, CCNP, Cisco Certified Network Associate, or equivalent hands on and network design experience

• F5-CSE

• Ability to work with team in a fast-paced work environment

• Ability to balance daily workload along with business and maintenance projects

• Ability to work with Project Managers to ensure projects are completed successfully and on time

• Has in-depth knowledge in own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines.

• Solves complex problems, takes a new perspective on existing solutions.

• Ability to listen to requirements and make recommendations based on knowledge of the environment and Networking knowledge

• Works independently; receives minimal guidance. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

• Requirement for off- hours support including On-Call

• Minimal travel required

Strong working knowledge of the following technologies:

• Extensive knowledge of installation, maintenance and repair of network hardware and software

• Extensive knowledge of LAN/WAN/wireless/VoIP HW/SW technology network infrastructure, design, topology, protocols, and operating procedures

• Cisco Nexus Switch Technology (VPC, NXOS & FEX)

• Cisco Catalyst Switch Technology (VSS, IOS including Universal, Layer 2/3 technologies, Stackwise)

• Cisco ISR and ASR Router Technology (IOS including Universal, Layer 3 technologies, routing protocols)

• Routing Protocols (EIGRP, BGP, PBR, HSRP, VRRP, GLBP and OSPF)

• Cisco NFG Firewall (VPN Client (IPSEC /SSL), LAN-to-LAN)

• Cisco Wireless Technology (LWAPP & Autonomous), WCS and/or Prime Wireless LAN Management

• Application Load Balancer (LTM, ASM, iRules)

• DNS/DHCP and IPAM Technology

• Other Technology – Radius, TACACS, QoS, Packet Capturing and Analysis, Metro Ethernet and Dark Fiber services, Understanding of Copper & Fiber cabling

• Network Monitoring Tools

• Strong Network troubleshooting skills
