Sr Software Engineer (Node and AWS)

The role would offer an opportunity to work with cross-functional teams to develop and evolve cloud services that power innovative technology solutions in the real estate industry. This role will be responsible for working in an organization that will balance the needs of Cloud Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, Software Engineering, and Cloud Operations teams. The ideal candidate will develop a vision, strategy, and roadmap that guides the consumption of Cloud, whether it be single or multi-tenant Cloud, IAAS, PaaS, Container as a Service, Software as a Service following company standards, security architectures and operational frameworks. The successful candidate will contribute to industry best practices and emerging technologies to support continuous improvement. The role entails 50% of the time providing design and architectural leadership and the rest of the time contributing to the design and development of software modules and/or subsystems.

Responsibilities:

Provide thought leadership on our global cloud journey and senior expertise on modernizing cloud-based services to utilize the most efficient and appropriate public cloud resources.
Provide a strong perspective that drives change and helps motivate Delivery teams to adopt technology and methodologies that drive toward simple, scalable, and cost-efficient solutions to difficult and complex problems.
Analyze new solution requests, solicit and clarify non-functional requirements, and formulate conceptual and physical architectures to rapidly deliver infrastructure solutions in a fast-paced, multi-vendor, cloud-first environment.
Interface with other cross-functional teams, domain architects and engineers and manage alignment between Cloud Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, Software Engineering and Cloud Operations teams to deliver the best outcomes.
Drive a Cloud excellence culture throughout the company by simplifying, automating, analyzing, and evolving our activities and processes.
Support global Architecture activities by driving service roadmaps, strategic planning and optimization in AWS, and leading in setting organizational standards for the optimal use of technologies.
Provide tooling, practices, documentation, automation, and coaching so that it becomes easier for Delivery teams to build, test, ship, and operate new or existing site features.
Provide guidance on guardrails for operating in the Cloud at scale, such as tagging policy management and enforcement mechanisms.
Work closely with our operations, product delivery, and finance teams to ensure we maintain our cloud cost spending and environment stability through data analysis, consulting, accurate documentation, and creative problem-solving while driving optimization recommendations throughout the organization.
Ensure the health of company services in meeting defined service level expectations
Participate in on-call rotation, including coordinating and leading production troubleshooting efforts
Participate in incident management and communications, including follow-up with problem resolution post-mortem and process improvements
Contribute to best practices with written documentation and in-person coaching
Possess the ability to balance big-picture vision with an approach that is process-oriented with detailed execution at all times
Perform other duties and projects as assigned
Maintain a strong understanding of industry standards and best practices
Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent experience
8+ years of experience in senior technical leadership roles, including experience in Cloud Services, Software Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or Systems teams
5+ years of direct experience in architecting and operating significant production solutions and workloads in AWS
Experience with best-in-breed systems such as Datadog, New Relic, and CloudHealth and CI/CD pipeline tooling (Jenkins, Harness, AWS CodePipeline)
Strong technical acumen in areas of Engineering and Cloud Services (SDLC, change management, disaster recovery, and site reliability)
