Description

Overview:
The System Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems, servers, and networking equipment within the data center. This role requires strong technical skills in Windows Server, Linux, Unix, data center operations, virtualization, networking, and scripting. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with hardware troubleshooting, server provisioning, and network equipment deployment.

Key Responsibilities:
Operating System Installation and Maintenance:
Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server, Linux, and Unix operating systems.
Ensure systems are up-to-date with the latest patches and updates.

Data Center Operations:
Rack, build, cable, configure, and provision Intel and AMD servers.
Deploy and manage Cisco Layer 2 networking equipment.
Perform basic lab administration, hands-on lab activities, and Gitlab ticket handling.

Hardware and Networking:
Troubleshoot, test, and provide quality assurance for server hardware.
Professionally resolve hardware issues via trouble tickets.
Manage cabling, including port mapping and understanding different cable types and their purposes.

Virtualization and Infrastructure:
Manage and maintain virtualization environments.
Understand and apply knowledge of GPU/CPU infrastructure.
Use scripting to automate tasks and improve efficiency.

Asset Management and Documentation:
Maintain asset management records for all hardware and networking equipment.
Document configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

Collaboration and Communication:
Engage with customers and partners to navigate potential roadblocks.
Work cross-functionally across groups to quickly resolve issues.
Communicate effectively with executives and build respect through professional interactions.
