Job: System Administrator II

Location: Salem, Oregon (REMOTE)

 

Telecommuting will be contingent upon the key person providing their own adequate office equipment and connectivity.

 

The Office of Information Services (OIS) is a shared service provider for the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and Department of Human Services (DHS). OIS provides the technology systems and services that support more than 18,000 OHA and DHS agency staff at local offices and facilities around the state. These systems and services help the two agencies determine client service program eligibility; provide medical, housing, food, and job assistance; provide addiction, mental health, vocational and rehabilitative services; protect children, seniors, and people with physical and/or developmental disabilities; process claims and benefits; manage provider licensing and state hospital facilities; and promote and protect the state public health.

 

OIS seeks an experienced System Administrator specializing in vulnerability and web browser management. The administrator will be responsible for ensuring optimal performance, security, and user experience across various web browsers within our agencies. They will play a vital role in ensuring the security and reliability of our IT infrastructure.

 

This role will work with other system administrators in a team environment.

 

Scope:

Contractor’s Key Person shall:

Security Vulnerability Management:

 

Identify and assess security vulnerabilities in systems, applications, and network infrastructure.

Develop and implement strategies to remediate vulnerabilities, including applying patches, updates, and configuration changes.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize and address critical vulnerabilities.

Conduct regular security assessments and penetration testing to proactively identify risks.

Web Browser Optimization:

 

Configure and manage web browsers to ensure optimal performance, security, and user experience.

Implement and enforce browsing policies, content filtering, and access controls.

Monitor browser performance and troubleshoot issues to enhance user satisfaction.

Stay updated with the latest browser trends, technologies, and security best practices.

Incident Response:

 

Participate in incident response activities, including analyzing security incidents and coordinating remediation efforts.

Investigate security breaches, assess the impact, and implement necessary countermeasures.

Contribute to the development of incident response plans and procedures.

Documentation and Reporting:

 

Maintain comprehensive documentation of security vulnerabilities, remediation actions, and browser configurations.

Generate regular reports on security vulnerabilities, browser performance, and incident response activities.

Communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required skills and experience:

 

Proven experience as a System Administrator with a strong focus on security vulnerability management and web browser optimization.

Deep understanding of security vulnerabilities, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies.

Proficiency in configuring and managing popular web browsers such as Edge, Chrome and Firefox.

Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., CIS, NIST, GDPR).

Strong troubleshooting skills and experience in incident response.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional - CISSP) are a plus.

 

Covendis rate card description for a System Administrator Level 2:

Full-time professional work experience in Information Technology.

Substitutions: Accredited college training may substitute for the required work experience with a maximum substitution of four (4) years.

(Fifteen (15) semester hours in Information Technology or a related area is required.)

Accredited graduate training in the above area may substitute for the required work experience with a maximum substitution of two (2) years.

Successfully completion of an Information Technology Certification program, may substitute for the required work experience with a maximum substitution of two (2) years. (Proof of certification must accompany application.)

Two (2) years of work experience as a Network Engineer-Senior; LAN Administrator-Senior; Help Desk Service Specialist-Senior; Systems Administrator-Intermediate; Network Engineer-Intermediate; LAN Administrator-Intermediate and Help Desk Service Specialist-Intermediate may substitute for all the required experience.
