Overview:

We are looking for an experienced telecom system engineer to join an existing, high-performing team supporting the end-to-end lifecycle of network simulation tools at a U.S. tier 1 mobile service provider.

The team supports the evaluation of simulation solutions, release/ feature planning, release/ feature pre-production testing, deployment, script development, and tier 3 support services in both pre-production and production environments.

You will be assigned a number of projects where you will be the main point of contact for our client’s internal customer and you will responsible, with the support of the rest of the team, for meeting the customer’s expectations within the limits of the available solutions.

You will need to be able to engage with telecom network platform experts to develop a deep understanding of the requirements, so you will need a good understanding of EPC/ SIP call flows and network functionality. While 5G experience would be ideal, it is not necessary.

The successful candidate will need to be able to learn quickly, is comfortable communicating with highly technical clients and peers, and able to work under constant pressure in a dynamic, challenging environment.


Duties:

  • Delivery of a service providing network simulation tools (SIM tools) support to network platform/ service owners.
  • Collaborate with network platform/ service owners to educate them on SIM tools capabilities and roadmap, understand their requirements, provide status updates, and assist in tool deployment and post deployment support.
  • Translate network platform/ service owner’s technical requirements into SIM tool design requirements/ parameters.
  • Design, develop, document and analyze your design maximizing the use of current platform capabilities.
  • Develop and perform functional, performance, and reliability testing on SIM tool solutions.
  • Identify and document any issues, and drive to resolution by collaboration with other SIM tool team members, network platform/ service owners, and SIM tool vendors.
  • Develop and maintain documents including diagrams, test instructions, MOPs, and knowledge sharing material.
  • Propose and present ways to improve the SIM tool process and service.
  • Actively manage your own utilization and task prioritization.

Location:

Candidates are required to be located in the Redmond, WA area. While most work is currently performed remotely due to COVID, it is expected that personnel will be required to work from the Redmond office once restrictions have been lifted.

Job requirements

MINIMUM SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE

  • Good Knowledge of EPC functionality/node in LTE network (GW, PCRF, PAS, MSP, MME, MIND, OCS) their interfaces, protocols and call flows.
  • TCP/UDP, SSH, TLS, IP Subnetting, network infrastructure knowledge.
  • Proficient in linux, cli commands.
  • Experience with VNF setup, VMware, codecloud.
  • Practical script development experience, ideally on network simulation tools
  • Proficient in use of MS Office

PREFERRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE

  • VM instantiation/ configuration
  • Routing validation/integration experience.
  • Network simulation tools experience (e.g. Landslide, etc)
  • Technical documentation development experience
  • EPC troubleshooting experience
