Job Title: Systems Administrator

Clearance: TS/SCI

Office Location: Washington, DC (100% on-site)
 

Position Overview: Currently seeking a Systems Administrator to support the NS3 Directorate at the Department of Commerce (DOC). This role is based 100% on-site in Washington DC and mandates an active TS/SCI clearance. As a member of the Linux and Windows environment team, you will be responsible for providing operational support and maintenance of systems.

Responsibilities:

Install, configure, and maintain server hardware, Linux, and/or Windows operating systems.

Analyze, design, and develop security features for system architectures.

Define system requirements encompassing servers, mainframes, workstations, and personal computers.

Establish enterprise information assurance and security standards, coordinating, developing, and evaluating security programs.

Recommend information assurance/security solutions to align with customer requirements.

Address discrepancies or security vulnerabilities promptly, utilizing BigFix for resolution.

Manage Red Hat Linux operating systems and services, including installation, configuration, and tuning of virtual servers.

Administer Windows Server configurations, security patches, and applications.

Oversee VMWare ESXi clusters and hosts, including resource allocation and routine maintenance.

Utilize SolarWinds module for monitoring NS3 Servers' performance.

Develop and implement information assurance/security standards and procedures, including vulnerability/risk analyses.

Deploy server patches and perform system backups, adhering to DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).

Install, configure, and maintain centralized storage systems.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field with 7+ years of experience.

US Citizenship.

Active TS/SCI clearance.

Proficiency in Red Hat Linux System Administration.

Experience managing VMWare ESXi clusters and hosts.

Familiarity with Solarwinds Suite, Microsoft SCOM and SCCM, IBM BigFix, and Mcafee Endpoint Protection Products.

Backup experience with Symantec Backup Exec, Commvault, VEEM.

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Desired Skills:

Knowledge of datacenter technologies including LAN, WAN, NAS, SAN storage, Oracle technologies, Microsoft Windows Server, firewalls, and VPNs.

Familiarity with network protocols such as TCP/IP, WINS, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, etc.
