DETAILS

The Office of Data, Academic Planning & Institutional Research (DAPIR) at UW-Madison seeks a Data and Systems Analyst consultant to assist with analysis, documentation, and retrofit recommendations for enterprise data systems related to the implementation of Workday. This role will assess the impact of upstream data changes on central data warehouses, enterprise Tableau reporting, internal analysis tools, and ancillary systems.

REQUIRED SKILLS (8+ YEARS):

• Technical Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or Consultant.
• Experience gathering requirements, performing gap/fit analysis, and writing user stories.
• Skilled in analyzing data and reporting user needs, making system recommendations, and providing user support either in a project setting or managing a production backlog.
• Strong background in analytics and data management environments.
• Proficiency in writing complex SQL or Python for data/system analysis and test scripts.
• Ability to guide users through testing.

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS:

• Experience in higher education settings.
• Proficiency with Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS).
• Workday implementation experience.
• Knowledge of data migration or transformation practices, including source system data mapping, translations, and cleansing.
• Familiarity with system, quality, and smoke testing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate with internal DAPIR resources and partner projects across UW.
• Analyze impacts on data warehouses (Oracle, Snowflake) due to Workday implementation.
• Evaluate Tableau dashboards and ancillary systems for impact from Workday changes.
• Document system requirements and create user stories.
• Perform gap/fit analysis between existing system configuration and Workday impacts to provide retrofit recommendations.
• Write test plans, coordinate testing with stakeholders, and update documentation to capture retrofit changes.
• Participate in pre- and post-implementation activities related to Workday.
