Job Description

1-2 years in Technical support/Monitoring role with good understanding on Linux Systems

Shift timings: Rotational Shift Quarterly change (6 AM to 3 PM, 2 PM to 11 PM, 10 PM to 7 AM)

Contract: 6 Month contract might extend to another 3 months. 

Mandatory Skills: Linux, Troubleshooting, Server monitoring and troubleshooting, Excellent communication, Very good in technical troubleshooting, Knowledge of network is plus. 

Roles & Responsibilities

Participate in 24x7 shifts . Your shift schedule may change month on month.

Provide remote infrastructure support for our SaaS, PaaS, IaaS products across globally distributed data centres

Perform health checks for systems & applications using tools like Zabbix, Grafana etc

Troubleshoot and fix issue to meet SLA’s and operational standards

Provide first line of response to incoming alerts from tools like Zabbix, Grafana into ServiceNow .

Monitoring servers for cases of abuse (spam, malicious processes, phishing/fraudulent sites, Splunk) and dealing with abusers as appropriate

Running malware scans on compromised accounts, updating the ticket with scan reports and advising users on how to fix the abuse/spam issues

Liaise with engineering teams for RCA's, permanent resolutions on issues using tickets and chat conference rooms

Taking necessary actions on the account/users/hosts that come up in ftp-monitor, main site-password-change via Emails and creating tickets

Investigate and assess alerts for hardware and schedule replacement or tests .

Ensure smooth hand-offs between shifts

Coordinate and scheduled maintenance and update forum post .

 

Required Skills

Strong interpersonal communication skills (including listening, speaking, and writing) and ability to work well in a diverse, team-focused environment with other teams

Good analytical and troubleshooting skills

Linux/Unix fundamentals, File Systems troubleshooting, Basic understanding of the various tools / services that are available by default with the Operating system .

Good understanding of Linux Systems implies undersatnding these and more Any Shell/Bash, sed/awk/grep/egrep, VI/VIM/Emacs, netstat, lsof, strace, ps/top/atop/dstat, grub boot config & systems rescue, fstab/disk labels, ext3/ext4, IPtables, sysstat (sar/vmstat/iostat etc), run-levels & startup scripts, sudo/chroot/chkrootkit/rkhunter.

Understanding of various distributions nuances (RHEL/Centos/Debian/Ubuntu etc), Package management etc

Good understanding of networking and TCP/IP protocols such as HTTP, SMTP, FTP, RDP and DNS

Good understanding of concepts like DNS, HTTP, TCP/UDP

Good understanding of RAID / DAS / SAN / NAS

Exposure to database servers such as MySQL

Ability to resolve issues quickly

Eagerness to learn and improve, both yourself and your surroundings

Education for India : Diploma / BE / BCA / MCA / MSc in Comp / BTech/ Mtech (RHCE/CCNA certified will be a Plus)

1-2 years in technical support role

                                       

Excellent communication skills.
