VSP - Data Analyst

VSP is seeking a skilled Data Analyst to join our team andplay a crucial role in the Data Strategy project for establishing an enterprisedata solution at Virginia State Police. As a Data Analyst, you will beresponsible for overseeing our data systems and reporting frameworks,guaranteeing the integrity and precision of data. You will transform raw datainto structured information, which will then be analyzed to glean insights thatdrive strategic business decisions. This position encompasses a comprehensiveanalysis lifecycle, covering requirement gathering, activity execution, designplanning, assessing master data set and complex data systems developingreports, troubleshooting data issues, and providing technical expertise in datastorage structures, data mining, data cleansing and supporting ad-hoc requestsrelated to data migration.

Responsibilities:Collaborate with internal and external teams tounderstand data needs and objectives. Gather data from primary and secondarysources, ensuring the upkeep of databases and data systems. Detect, examine,and decode trends or patterns within intricate datasets. Extract, clean, and transform data from diverse sources foranalysis. Perform data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.Examine data quality, applications, and functions to ensure accurate migration.Cleanse data and scrutinize computer-generated reports and outputs to identifyand rectify coding errors. Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patternsin complex data sets. Generate visualizations and reports for stakeholders andcollaborate with the management team to determine and rank the needs ofdifferent business units. Partnerwith engineering and product development teams to understand businessrequirements. Employ statisticaltechniques to scrutinize data and produce actionable business insights. Engage with SMEs of various departments to specify datarequirements for analysis projects tailored to their unique business processes.

Qualifications:Proven experience as a Data Analyst or related role.Technical expertise regarding data models, database design, data mining, andsegmentation techniques. Strong knowledge of and experience with reportingpackages and databases (SQL, etc.). Proficient in programming languages(Python, R, etc.). Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect,organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information withattention to detail and accuracy. Adept at queries, report writing, andpresenting findings. Capable of critically evaluating data to derivemeaningful, actionable insights. Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office withemphasis on Microsoft Excel. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in arelevant field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science).
