Job Description

*Occasional need for weekend work for high traffic applications and will need be able to support and be readily available during high risk situations (breaches or active attackers within the network).

About the role: With thousands of web-based applications that are consistently at high-risk for malicious attacks and security breaches, this team is responsible for ensuring that these applications are secure. This person will be working with multiple application owners to warp and secure the applications in WAFs while transferring and cloning specific applications in support of the current separation.

Requirements:

· 5 – 7 years’ experience performing WAF Engineering within an AWS/Azure Cloud environment (AWS WAF & Azure Web Application Firewall)

o Planning WAF deployment considering factors such as scalability, traffic patterns, and application architecture
o Creating WAF resources such as load balancers, security groups, and application gateways

o Enabling logging and monitoring features to track security events and set alarms or notifications

· Strong experience utilizing tools (Cloudflare or Imperva, preferred) to improve WAF protection solutions, website performance, security, and reliability

· Ability to manage multiple workstreams and communicate cross functionally with application owners

Responsibilities:

· Designing, implementing, managing, and maintaining the Web Application Firewall (WAF) infrastructure and policies to protect web applications and services from various cyber threats
· Implementing and configuring WAFs to protect web applications deployed in various AWS and Azure cloud environments
· Plan, Create, and Deploy WAFs considering application architecture to decide best locations and solutions

· Test WAF configurations to ensure it is not blocking legitimate traffic and that it effectively protects against common attacks.
