Job Description-
– 5+ years of hands-on experience administering WebSphere Application Server and WAS Liberty on z/OS.
– WebSphere Application Server Administration: Manage and configure WebSphere Application Server (WAS) and WAS Liberty environments on z/OS, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
– Middleware Integration: Work closely with teams to ensure smooth integration of WebSphere with other middleware such as DB2, MQ, and other enterprise systems.
– Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Use tools like IBM Tivoli Performance Viewer (TPV), IBM Monitoring, and other third-party tools to monitor application servers, detect performance issues, and troubleshoot production issues in WebSphere environments.
– Security Management: Implement security configurations and policies for WAS and Liberty profiles, including SSL certificates, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.
– Automation & Scripting: Develop automation scripts (Jython, JACL, REXX, etc.) to streamline administrative tasks such as deployments, backups, and environment monitoring.
– Application Deployment: Manage application deployments to WebSphere environments, working with development teams to ensure smooth deployments, patches, and updates.
– Patching & Upgrades: Apply patches, updates, and upgrades to WebSphere Application Server and WAS Liberty environments to ensure systems are up-to-date and secure.
– Problem Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues within WAS and Liberty environments, collaborating with application developers, infrastructure teams, and external vendors as necessary.
Technical Skills:
Expertise in WebSphere Application Server (traditional and Liberty) on z/OS.
Strong knowledge of z/OS, USS (Unix System Services), JCL, and RACF.
Scripting proficiency (e.g., Jython, JACL, Shell, REXX) for automation.
Proficiency in monitoring and troubleshooting using tools like IBM Tivoli Performance Viewer (TPV), OMEGAMON, or similar.
