Role: Windows Engineer

Location: Roseland NJ

Hybrid – 3 days a week

Summary

 

  • Responsible for supporting the data protection infrastructure for the enterprise in our assigned datacenters, data rooms and other areas as deemed necessary along with off-prem long term archive storage in the cloud.
  • The role requires to be progressive/advanced in Windows Operating Systems both Server and Desktop and/or Linux/Unix Operating Systems. Also, the position requires advanced knowledge with the VMware Hypervisor, Citrix and related technologies
  • Requires advanced knowledge of all server hardware in a datacenter setting (traditional, Converged, Hyper-converged computing platforms)
  • Working knowledge of storage-based technologies in a datacenter setting
  • Advanced knowledge of scripting languages/technologies for automation and reporting
  • Responsible for high quality documentation for installations, Infrastructure diagrams and computing environments
  • Responsible for scheduling upgrades, installations and maintenance with customers and peers
  • Participate in scheduled or non-scheduled off hour infrastructure upgrades and/or emergencies
  • Proactively monitor the Data Protection infrastructure and provide recommendations to management and peers for improvements, innovations and remediations
  • This position requires excellent written, verbal, technical and people skills
  • Responsible for best practice security relating to Data Protection infrastructure.
  • Provides excellent customer service with compassion, empathy and a consistent supportive attitude
  • Perform analysis for capacity planning and performance improvements
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills in a fast paced and changing environment

  • Assist with architecting and building IT Infrastructure
  • Solid working knowledge to Install, configure and maintain Server Virtualization environments as needed.
  • Participate in mandatory on-call rotation in a 24x7 computing environment
  • Other duties and projects as assigned and in a timely fashion

     

Job Requirements

 

  • Windows experience in 2016/2019
  • Install new and rebuild existing servers.
  • configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage.
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
  • contribute to and maintain system standards.
  • Experience with ticketing tools like ServiceNow
  • Proven experience in operational support for private cloud architectures
  • Attend and participate in weekly Fit Review/Project meetings
  • Develop reports to manage the infrastructure environment.
  • Works with external vendor support teams to define project requirements and scope
  • Assist in defining runbooks and documentation for:
  • Disaster recovery events
  • Infrastructure installs/Upgrades
  • Application patching
  • System Builds
  • Standards on Infrastructure
  • Follow defined Change Management policies and procedures
  • Attend daily, weekly and monthly team meetings
  • Lead projects or troubleshooting calls to address issues or tasks
  • Provides second and third level support to customers and peers
  • Research and test new technologies
  • Leads disaster recovery events
  • Work with virtualization, Linux, Storage, and Network teams to optimize the data protection platform.
  • Work with data protection team on installs and troubleshoots issues
